Makes me giggle: HP and Toshiba are now pumping out these gargantua? The chuckle comes in when you consider that all these PC manufacturers are trying to play catch-up w/ Apple. Not only were they the first with ANY widescreen aspect ratio notebook on the market — they were the first w/ 17″ widescreen notebook. And let’s not get started on the weights here… 11 lb vs 6.8 lb? Sorry, my colors are showing again…

Sound vaguely familiar? Personally, I support the suit — the indy labels need themselves a fighting chance against the Arista-Sony-Columbia-etc.’s of the world. But they exist … so, it’s not really a monopoly. At least not in the fun, early-20th century version of the word. (Besides, if the indy labels became big ones, they wouldn’t have that same charm would they? And the emo boys and girls would just seek out smaller, grittier labels releasing their music as those chips that make greeting cards sing… That’s how it would play out anyway right?) But for what it’s worth, it’s an excellent political statement.

alright… not last night but the night before: co picnic. averse am i (usually) to gatherings such for they are near always awkward posturing sessions laden high w/ pretense and a little bit of good ol’ fashioned brown nosing. but not so when you’re greeted w/ a red plastic cup, a nod in a certain direction, and the words, “Number Niner…”

and so were the doubts melted.

from there, we (i) strip away the false assumptions around said event and proceed. a lot can happen when you let it. i left the evening feeling a little better about a whole lot of things. (being called a geek never felt so good, for starters.) and when night descended so casually on the park, those left standing made a unanimous motion: the bar is open.

these boys are going to get me into trouble.
