Now this seems a healthy way of dealing with problems and/or mistakes:
Bush’s pledge to destroy the notorious prison was the symbolic highlight of a speech designed to convince an increasingly restive public that improvement is coming to Iraq despite a recent wave of violence and an international scandal sparked by images of U.S. troops abusing Iraqi prisoners.
Destroy! Demolish! Detonate! This is how to deal with all of this. Let’s not discuss. Or fess up. Or set anything right. Let’s just go along like nothing happened and pretend to atone with impotent little gestures.

1 += getting into it’s furry innards. Making it do headstands. Dual video out on an iBook (not that I did that all on my own, by any stretch). Toying with the features. What wacky scripts need written to make FileVault play well with others? (When *I* want it to?) Nothing too fancy, I guess. Just nice to be able to flip easily back and forth between gooey GUI mode and gritty terminal sessions without feeling like some sort of criminal or freakshow. (Well, more so anyway.)
14 += (see above) (see also, #15); learning and re-learning. I took a couple of CS classes at SMCM (believe we had this conv. before…?) that left less than sweet flavors upon the old palate. Maybe my brain just wasn’t primed for it. Some may recall my outburst in COSC120 — “The program should just KNOW it’s a new variable!” Clearly my thinking was before it’s time. It’s the problem solving I can’t live without (but somehow don’t get enough of…) Some are obsessed w/ the metadata, I’m just obsessed w/ teaching the system how to traverse the data tree and make it pretty.
25 == “FRANCHISES” += Stephenson may have been closer to the truth than we realize w/ all that franchisee stuff. Maybe I’m just insane and/or bitter and/or failing to see the big picture but there is something awry when any underlying purpose or mission is undermined by image. Or else “image” is the underlying purpose. See also American Honda (re: the former) and Scion (re: the latter). There’s already too much anxiety in the world for a big corporation to worry about whether or not the stock photos depict alloy wheels. Or if they’re using Flash on the homepage. Honestly, I think we all have bigger fish to fry.
