#NaNoWriMo: 50,688
Writing location: everywhere but The Chair…
Well… I made it. Squeezed in 3,048 words today to meet the goal. I would not exactly say that the story is finished. (My “ending” is too … er … Stephensonian for that to be the case…) I feel like I could squeeze another 50,000 out of this tale. But To rock a 50k draft in 25 days is … well, it’s a remarkable feat and a really good feeling. I would like to thank my lovely partner A. for putting up with my single-mindedness these last couple weeks as well as the NaNoWriMo community for all their support. (Especially the Wrangler ‘WriMos and the ‘WriMos from Flickr … ya’ll are the best.) Now for the fun part:
Today’s Oblique Strategy: Go to an extreme, then come back to a more comfortable place.
Final NaNoWriMo Word Count: 50,688 of 50,000 (101.38%) [NOTE: their system says 50,640 -- but really, who's counting?]

Congrats, Rob!

November 25th, 2006 at 11:21 pmThanks John… We went out to celebrate tonight. Now if only I can make the text into something respectable. Er… publishable. Er… Salvageable? Er… Look behind you! A three-headed monkey!
November 25th, 2006 at 11:27 pm[...] November saw Synaptic Clog correspondent F_D slugging his way through the 50,000 word goal of NaNoWriMo. And last night he managed to pull off that goal, the final word count weighing in somewhere around 50,688 50,640 (depends on whose calculator you’re using). And here are the tunes that got him (well … me) through the month of marathon wordsmithing: [...]

November 27th, 2006 at 12:51 pmCongrats!
[...] Two hours well spent tonight. Reviewing notes going back to October of last year. Making tweaks to the ideas. Committing to other ideas that I had been “iffy” on. And then: writing. For the first time since I wrapped up “draft 1d” or “e” or whatever. Probably a good six months since the last writing session. (NaNoWriMo not really counting.) [...]
February 6th, 2007 at 8:49 pm[...] November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo, that is to say). Had a hell of a time of it last year1– made it to 50,688 words in 25 days with what really did resemble a complete story by the [...]
