iPods, iTunes, iReal? iCarumba… RealNetworks is offering an alliance with Apple … probably after hearing about Apple is selling more iPods than Macs. Which shouldn’t really come as any surprise, I guess.

What’s going to be really interesting in the next couple of months is seeing which avenue the company chases with more fervor and/or urgency. The sexy, chic allure of the digital music and the iLife hub seems to be scoring for them all over the place. Will this trump the X? The geek factor? When you think Applie what springs to mind? The VT Terascale cluster? Or candy colors?

UPDATE: The deal is not on. Apple Computer apparently doesn’t want to sing the same tune as its Internet music rival RealNetworks. Ladies and gentlemen, start your assumptions.
