dream.20070514: Wii Soviets

by Rob Friesel

The conference hall is permeated by a smell; the only applicable adjective is evil. I have snuck in, stealing an ill-fitting Soviet officer’s uniform. Even though the attire helps me to blend right in, I still find myself dashing under table cloths whenever no one is looking. They have gathered for a training exercise in strategy. The object of their attention? A modified version of Sid Meier’s Civilization that is played on the Nintendo Wii. On a fifty foot screen the game is shown for all to see. A pair of officers faces off, complicated haptic gestures guiding their armies through each others’ territories. I fear for my safety; at any moment, I will be uncovered and my safety compromised.
