NaNoWriMo: Kick-Off Post
¶ by Rob FrieselWriting locations: Kitchen table (morning, home); living room (evening, home)
I got up early this morning to start writing and managed to fit in about 900 words before breakfast and work got the better of me. It felt good to drink my coffee and dive right into the project and process. It’s a very different feeling from every other time I’ve written. (Or tried to write, for that matter.) What’s funny is that there is a certain liberty in sitting down with that mantra: No plot, no problem.
Return home, dinner and a few errands and then down to writing. Wrapped up just a little bit ago with a pinch over 3,000 words. Not too shabby of a start. I’d like to get a couple chapters in before sharing any excerpts (though I micro-excerpt does (I’ll admit) appear here…)
I got into a good groove and I think the project is off to a good start. My outline came in handy but I hardly used it at all. Just pouring out onto the pages whatever I can. Trying to get a feel for what these characters sound like and who they are. What does our setting smell like? That kind of thing.
Anyhow… Let’s see where we are so far:
Indeed. A strong start…
