decisions…
¶ by Rob FrieselSo now that I am pretty much officially taking the iBook w/ me to work everyday (and frequently to other places), it’s probably about time that I invested in a proper bag for transporting it comfortably and securely. Thus am I in the market for a new bag. Something to pad my little darling with ample space for toting about a book or two and (if I’m lucky) maybe pockets or compartments intended for those silly accoutrements like AC adapters and pens. So, trying to narrow it down…

Decisions, decisions… So, the thing I like most about the Incase (above, left) is its simple yet comprehensive design. “Graphite” features with what looks like a nicely laid out back pocket — plenty of compartments pockets and little sleeves for assorted goods. Just nice, elegant simplicity. So suggest the pictures anyway. And at the same time deluxe. But possibly overkill? Weighing in on the sling version of the Incase as well — though I’d be considered about that one’s capacity for items other than the iBook. (A concern for those of us who frequently transport thick tomes in addition to some other truly indispensible reference…)
But then there’s that Timbuk2 Detour (above, right) that is quite so very much tempting as well. A bit pricier (and not really featuring a “budget” variation like the Incase) but also seemingly much more fully featured. A bit more choice in the color department (purely aesthetic, I know…) and/but also seemingly more deluxe w/ the ability to transform from backpack to messenger bag to briefcase modes. And that capacious interior and oh-so-many pockets & compartments. A tough call indeed. Thinking about this debate here. In time for my birthday.
