5 Things
¶ by Rob FrieselTagged by Pete through the Honor’s System, here’s my contribution to the meme-licious “Five Things You (Presumably) Didn’t Know About Me”:
- I played lacrosse in high school. But only in high school. Those four years and not much more than a tossed ball before or afterward.
- I took three and a half years of Russian in high school, was a member of Slava (the Russian Honor’s Society), and was a TA for one semester. Whether this comes before or after the advent of my Cold War Nostalgia is (however) debatable.
- My first attempt at writing a novel was around age nine when I attempted to construct a narrative line for G.I. Joe that didn’t suck (like the deeply unsatisfying movie from the previous year). If I remember correctly, I got about 30 or 40 pages written before abandoning the project. Which I suppose is pretty good for a nine year old.
- I am self-taught with just about everything technical (i.e., code-writing & programming, systems admin-ish tasks, graphics and design, etc.) that I use at my job and at home. But you knew that. What you probably didn’t know is that (a) I don’t brag about this anymore because it seems like everyone else is self-taught as well and (b) the one time that I attempted formal training in this field, I found it to be a miserable failure.
- My favorite snack of all time is Pepperidge Farm Goldfish (the cheddar flavor). I often buy them by the gallon (you know the one I’m talking about?) and just pour them right into my mouth. It sounds gluttonous but really it’s just to keep my hands from getting encrusted with a light layer of salt and orange crumbs.
And let’s see… I’ll tag Wick, Tim, and Creighton.
