My favorite sentence in this project so far came out of tonight’s writing:

And the whole city congeals together in its motley mass, a patchwork of everything unknown the week before bolted atop the best well-plotted plans of the previous year.

Winging it now more than ever.  I’ll admit to having an idea and a half-baked outline going into this thing.  But “the ride” is taking me in weird places.  Better to follow it—esp. now that there’s no other crutch to lean on.  (Half-baked ideas are all used up, and all I’ve got left is the batter.)
