    #facebook.cia?

Via Waxy: “What would Orwell do?” - - a quaint little piece about [tag]Facebook[/tag]:

…no surprise that a VC is interested; Facebook’s numbers are impressive. However, there are some significant details that cannot be overlooked. [...] Other VCs weren’t very interested [...and the] VCs that ARE Interested have strange connections

Hmm… Facebook as some giant government conspiracy? A seemingly innocuous website with possible [tag]CIA[/tag]-backing/funding that can only be a giant tracking mechanism on US college students?

    #Google and AOL

    [tag]Time Warner[/tag] Plans to Sell 5% of [tag]AOL[/tag] to [tag]Google[/tag]:

Finally [...] Richard D. Parsons [...] told Eric E. Schmidt [...] that he would accept Google’s recently sweetened offer. Google, which prides itself on the purity of its search results, agreed to give favored placement to content from AOL throughout its site, something it has never done before. [...] …Mr. Parsons called Steven A. Ballmer [...] this morning to give him the news that the deal [...] was going to Google…

And you thought Ballmer was pissed already, eh?

    #Democracy: Not Dead

Via Boing^2: Senate rejects extension of [tag]Patriot Act[/tag]!

In a crucial vote early Friday, the bill’s Senate supporters were not able to get the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster by Sens. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., and Larry Craig, R-Idaho, and their allies. The final vote was 52-47.

    Breathe a little easier, folks!
